On location with Matt Chaffin
Although Matt's stay was way too short, his footage isn't. In a span of 3 days he probably has a full part. Here's a little taste of
MATT!!!
**Footage is best viewed in browsers other than AOL...Mozilla Fire Fox works great.**
Side Note
As you watch the last line of Matt, notice the guy taking a picture of Matt. That's Matt's dad, Mike. There are parents who support their kids
and there are parents who REALLY support their kids. And this is a prime example. Mike hung out with us the whole day
while we were going from spot to spot. So stoked to be there, saying "hey this looks like a good spot", and he was even around when we
got kicked out of spots. How cool is that? How many parents out there support their kids like that? Matt you are a lucky boy! It was
great to have you both out here.

Contest Weiners
Thanks to all who came out for the contest, even if it was hot as heck! The day started off overcast, then all of a sudden that DEADLY sun came out.
Thank you to Josh who took over as guest announcer for the advance division.
Lil John took first in the Advanced division and (what a suprise) Mikey the Nike Roth took it all in the Game of Skate. But not with out a fight!
From who you ask? Well, from Sean Whitcomb. Apparently, Sean drove 3 hours (from near the Canadian border) for this Game of Skate. Going head to head for a
solid 30 minutes made me kinda wonder if they were going to run out of tricks. Either that or one of them was going to pass out due to dehydration. But no,
Mike WON ALL DA MONEY with a switch varial heel. Good job to all of the contestants!

Matt Chaffin/Tim Jackson
Matt will be down in Grand Rapids at the end of July for a day or two, and rest of the time, it'll be skating in Chicago. Got a call from
Chad/APB who said Tim's all done with his part for their video and it's SICK. Can't wait to see it. Matt is currently wrapping up his
part for the 808 video too. One of the dopest thing about Hawaii and it's shops is that everyone gets along! Everyone is cool with each
other, no tension, no underlying competition. All chill.

Contest Part II
Ok, same place as last year, you know at the world famous Spartan Skate Park for the Sparta Town and Country Days. A lot of you suggested it, so
after the contest, we will be holding a Game of Skate (if there are enough people to participate) in the tennis court next door.
It's winner take all, so bring your ten bucks! You could be either $160 or even $320 richer in the end.
Will the final round be a repeat of last years Premier Game of Skate? A showdown between the flat ground kings - Bill Hupp and Mike Roth?
Or will it be some random hero takin the thrown? Side bets anyone?

Weekend greats
Just got back from Ohio for the DC Plaza opening. Sick park! Mad heads from all over were there. For those of you from Hawaii (who have been
to a Big Mele) or anyone who has been to a festival concert, picture that many people, but the only thing is instead of coolers and blankets,
these people had skateboards in hand all waiting to rush that park! It was crazy to see the excitement but at the same time anger (of these skaters)
as two, maybe even three of them were all trying the same spot. Surprisingly no one seriously was hurt.
Well, not too bad anyway. Auttiesh is currently resting his ankle. It's okay, you're going to heal 100%!

Rider moving/Look clean in your white tee
Just got word that Kolin will be moving to Sunnyville California (it's in the San Jose area) next week. You know he'll be out there promoting Defyn along with getting hooked up
with some other sponsors too. Goodluck out in Cali Kolin!!! We're gonna miss you! If any of you have gotten the pleasure to
meet Kolin, you know right off that this kid is all about skateboarding! So positive, so fun to skate with, and when you go out to film, he
never disappoints! His part in the Killjoy promo was pretty much filmed in two or three sessions. He's down to skate with anyone. Even
invite's you to his Grammy's house in Detroit for a skate session.
New Defyn shirts are in, just in time for summer!

DC vs Nike challenge
Here's some stale two week old news...What's up with DC vs Nike bet you ask? Well, it was an intense game of skate - bank to ledge - between
Mike and Josh at K-Zoo.
Mike was up by four letters as Josh gained momemtum and caught up.
Head to head, pulling tricks out of their deep pockets.
Damn was that the longest game of skate,
almost a freakin hour. But do you really think Josh was
going let Mike beat him? Of course not. Josh won with a big spin back tail. Oh so close, right in the palm of your hand, kinda like the Pistons last night.
So loser (Mike) now has to buy DC's instead of Nikes. Go out, support, buy DC's.
Will Mike keep his King of Skate crown at this years Premier game of skate, or will Bill snatch it from him?

Oops, I forgot...Here's the update on the Lords of Dogtown contest. Both Tim and Matt were in the top ten.
Good job guys! From what I hear, there were 40 contestants, 1 heat with 2 runs, thats it. I guess there wasn't enough time
for a second heat. The judges were local skate shop owners and some of the Z boys. I guess it was televised too.
Pretty sweet. Here's a newspaper clipping of the contest.
Also, here's an article about Police harrassment with a pic of Tim in it.
You may or may not be able to view.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Matt Chaffin
I know it's not March, but it's MAY MADNESS!
Romie and Eric got back from Hawaii all tanned and jet lagged, but oh well
those bums got to go to Hawaii, they can't complain!
Getting back to the
madness, I would like to introduce our third new rider: Matt Chaffin.
Matt is a 15 year old ripper out of Kaneohe, Hawaii. Here's a breif
highlight of his sponsor me tape - switch kickfliped a big six,
switch kickflip front board down a rail at A'ala park, nollie nose slide
down an 8 stair hubba, nollie flip crook at kaneohe park hubba.
Matt's current sponsor: 808 skate
Speaking of footie, Tim and Shane's footage was SICK!!! Can you say butta?
Tickle of some of Tim's tricks - kickflip backlip at A'ala, huge half cab heel off kicker at Kaneohe.
Shane - Backside nose blunt, fakie manual kickflip out off ledge.
I will put up some clips and more pics by next week.
They are all a great addition to the team! Welcome again!
Big Mahalo to Tim, Chad, Rob, everyone at APB, and the Candy Bandits for showing us some spots!
Everyone needs to check out Candy Bandits dot com!!!!

Shane Lewis
Romie may be a procrastinator when it comes to certain things, but when it comes
to scouting talent, he wastes no time!! Yep, another new rider.
Welcome to the team Shane Lewis! Eric and Romie compare his style to Kenny Anderson.
Although, in my opinion, everyone has their OWN style, it's what makes them who they are.
I can't wait to see the footage they bring home! Of both Tim and Shane!
Shane's sponsors: Prototype skate shop, and Matix (flow)

| May 2, 2005 |
Tim Jackson
New Team Rider! Welcome to the team Tim Jackson!
Smooth style, cool as hell, all around sick skater!
Sponsors: APB board shop, and Lakai (flow).

May Day is lei day
Well, Romie and Eric finally. But before they did,
Eric tried his luck at bodyboarding. Not sure if we'll have footage of Eric
going over the falls. Seems like Eric is becoming a local already!
Now back to the important subject - filming - Tim Jackson.
Check him out on candy bandits dot com (scroll down to the 12/10/04 news to view some footie of Tim.)
First stop - A'ala Park, then hitting the streets.
